  • Four Years of Outdoor Exposure in Hawaii | moldrup

Four Years of Outdoor Exposure in Hawaii Real-world performance under severe decay conditions. The NRRI study included up to 48 months of outdoor exposure testing in Hilo, Hawaii. Hilo is widely recognized as one of the world's most demanding environments for evaluating wood durability due to: High rainfall High humidity Warm temperatures Intense biological activity The study used AWPA outdoor exposure methods to evaluate the long-term performance of thermally modified North American species. While laboratory testing provides important information, field exposure helps demonstrate how products perform under actual service conditions. The results showed that several thermally modified species maintained strong performance after four years of exposure.

  • Dimensional Stability | moldrup

Why Dimensional Stability Matters One of the most important findings from the NRRI study. When thermally modified wood is discussed, durability often receives most of the attention. However, the NRRI study documented significant reductions in moisture uptake, swelling and shrinkage across all species evaluated. Why is this important? Dimensional movement is often one of the primary causes of: Coating failure Joint opening Warping Distortion Increased maintenance For windows, doors, cladding and exterior millwork, dimensional stability may be as important as biological durability. The NRRI data demonstrates how thermal modification can improve performance by reducing the wood's response to changing moisture conditions.

  • Creosote | moldrup

this page shows the IWT-Moldrup creosote plants, copper naphthenate plants Creosote impregnation and copper naphthenate Creosote impregnation plants for railway sleepers/crossties and electricity/utility poles for all types of processes such as Bethell/Bréant, Lowry, Ruping, Double-Rüping and Boulton. From small manual plants to big size automatic systems. Freshly creosote treated eucalyptus poles leaving plant in East Africa Creosote has been a well-proven wood preservative for more than 180 years Especially for heavy duty use such as railway sleepers of hardwoods and utility poles with a service life of 40 years++. Copper naphthenate alternative IWT/Moldrup is cooperating closely with the manufacturers of the expected alternative to creosote for sleepers/poles = copper napthtenate, to secure a continued use of wood in the industry CR30A type - for emerging markets For eucalyptus in emerging markets in Africa IWT/Moldrup has developed a price-effective, simple creosote plant to provide dry poles using the minimum of energy. Supplied complete, turn-key and operational a few days after delivery at an attractive price.

  • Low pressure | moldrup

this page shows IWT-Moldrup plants for organic solvent treatment, wood modification, LOSP plants for treatment with light organic solvent preservative, wood drying plants, laboratory plants Low pressure impregnation plants and pilot plants for laboratory use Low pressure impregnation plants For treatment of construction timber and joinery wood for windows and doors with organic solvent based or water-emulsion preservatives free form heavy metals. Pilot plants for impregnation, wood modification and drying IWT/Moldrup offers pilot plants in many sizes and designs for standard impregnation processes, for extremely high pressure applications, in stainless steel, for wood modification under vacuum and pressure with liquids, vapours and air mixtures as well as for drying under vacuum and/or pressure. ROYAL TREATMENT WITH LINSEED OIL Plant and process for treatment of already impregnated wood with linseed oil in a process which dries down the freshly impregnated wood within a matter of hours instead of days, and at the same time penetrates the surface of the wood with a linseed oil for gtreatly improved protection against water-uptake with either the colour of the impregnation preservative or pigments for red, yellow, brown and gray shades. The standard turn-key Royal plant has a capacity of 10 - 12 m3 per cycle and up to 30 - 36 m3 in 24 hours. The Royal treatment is normally for impregnated scots pine and not applicable on spruce due to the low uptake of the impregnation preservative. IWT-Moldrup is reintroducing the Rotatreat version of Royal treatment for even quicker drying and for Royal treatment on spruce and similar refractory species.
